We asked more than 6,000 Intelligent Insurer readers, either in the US or involved in US insurance business, who they consider to be the best companies in various sectors of the market.
Our respondents came from a wide range of insurers, brokers, reinsurers and service providers. The result is a fascinating insight into the perceptions of the US market and parts of the international market that is built around it.
The US, as the world’s largest insurance market, has total life and non-life premiums of $1,140 billion. It is a diverse market geographically, with deep links to the international markets, which would explain the presence on non-US companies in our list of award winners. For example, the most popular reinsurers were Munich Re and Swiss Re, while the award for best reinsurance CEO went to a Bermuda-based executive.
Of course, US insurers, brokers and service providers always return the favour and featured prominently in the Intelligent Insurer Global Awards earlier this year.
