It will take more than a large single loss to move the soft market—only a series of losses, further consolidation or an insolvency will be enough to change pricing, according to Torsten Jeworrek, member of the Board of Management at Munich Re.
In such a scenario, Jeworrek is very clear that Munich Re’s strategy for several years has been twofold: while maintaining pricing discipline as much as possible, the company has also focused on seeking growth in new markets through innovation and looking for other means to set it apart from its competitors.
