Acappella hires Barbican exec

Acappella Syndicate 2014 has appointed Suzanne Ward as divisional head of its new marine liability division.

The division will write a book of predominantly marine liability business, with associated marine risks including P&I and ports and terminals, and an energy liability portfolio. She will report to David Indge, active underwriter at Acappella.

Ward joins Acappella from Barbican, where she spent five years as an underwriter of marine and energy liability. Prior to her role at Barbican, she spent eight years with Novae as a marine liability underwriter.

Indge said: “I am really pleased that Suzanne has joined Acappella. Suzanne’s appointment represents another important step in building a syndicate that specialises in desirable class of business. Further key strategic hires will be made where there is a strong opportunity for profitable growth.”

Ward added: “I’m delighted to be joining Acappella at such an exciting time in their development, and look forward to expanding their marine presence in the Lloyd’s market.”
