AGCS names three global heads

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Thierry Portevin as global head of property and Chris van Gend as global head of engineering, both effective October 2016, and Tina Baacke as global head of Allianz Risk Consulting, effective January 1 2017.

Taking over from Rachel Conran, who left AGCS in June, Portevin will specialise in offering commercial property insurance at the company’s chief underwriting officer for corporate lines.

Portevin has served as global head of engineering since January 2013, and has worked for Allianz Group since 2000 as an engineering underwriting manager for France.

Succeeding Portevin, van Gend will relocate to Munich to manage specialist cover for all aspects of engineering and construction insurance.

Prior to AGCS, van Gend has nearly 20 year of experience industry, having most recently served as head of the Asia-Pacific hub for Catlin’s energy and construction lines of business. He has also held a number of underwriting in roles in in Australia and Singapore.

Succeeding global head of risk consulting Paul Carter who is retiring at the end of the year, Baacke will support clients to deliver solutions to the management, control and reduction of risks.

Baacke joined AGCS as head of catastrophe risk research and analytics in October 2010, and then led the AGCS catastrophe risk team since August 2011.

Prior to this, Baacke spent seven years at Allianz Re in Munich and Singapore, holding various positions in catastrophe risk management.
