AIG hires XL exec as EMEA COO

American International Group (AIG) has appointed Mike Garceau as chief operating officer (COO) of its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Garceau will report to Seraina Maag, president and chief executive officer for the EMEA region, and will have a matrix reporting line to Eric Martinez, executive vice president, claims and operations, AIG.

He joins AIG from XL Group, where he spent the last five years, initially as COO of XL’s North America property and casualty business, and most recently, as chief financial officer (CFO), global insurance.
