AJG hires Tysers exec to head aviation

Arthur J Gallagher (AJG) has appointed Mark Walters as executive director to lead its aviation division.

Walters joins from Lloyd’s broker Tysers where he had been managing director of aviation since 2009. Prior to that, he spent more than 18 years at Marsh developing expertise across all classes of aviation and managing business emanating from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australasia and the Americas.

Jonathan Suckling, managing director of specialty risks, AJG, said: “Mark’s extensive aviation experience, both in terms of class and geographic jurisdiction, make him ideally placed to lead our dedicated team of specialists — each of whom can be considered an expert in their field.

“I don’t doubt that with his depth of knowledge, strong insurer relationships and ambition for growth our aviation division will go from strength to strength as we continue to build out our London-based specialty practices.”
