Allstate suffers $280m of cat losses

US insurer Allstate has estimated catastrophe losses for the month of April 2014 of $280 million.

The company said that the losses came from six events at an estimated cost of $250 million pre-tax and $182 million after tax. Unfavourable reserve re-estimates of prior catastrophe losses were also included.
