Alteris strengthens public risk division

Alteris Insurance Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Argo Group International Holdings, has appointed John Atherton as senior vice president, general manager, to head Alteris Public Risk Solutions. He will report to Hilbert "Van" Schenck, CPCU, president, Alteris.

In his new role, Atherton will oversee all business operations, including underwriting and business development, for Alteris Public Risk Solutions from the company's San Francisco office. Prior to joining Alteris, Atherton served as senior vice president at Starr Companies where he managed the company's public entity division. He has also held similar leadership roles at Liberty Mutual and Zurich Insurance Group.
