Amundi gears up for Monte Carlo or Bust

In its annual Monte Carlo or Bust event, the Lloyd’s and London insurance market is planning to raise £50,000 for charity.

Fifteen identical Citroen 2CVs will set off from Lloyd’s of London on September 9, 2015, for a journey through France down to Monte Carlo in time for September’s Reinsurance Rendezvous.

The event is sponsored by asset manager Amundi and supported by the Lloyd’s Motor Club (LMC) and ClubSonar.

A number of charities will be supported: RedR, Ready to Respond, Demelza, Hospice Care for Children, Coombe Trust, and Action Contre la Faim, the latter being supported by Amundi.

Martin Robinson, committee member of the LMC & co‐founder of ClubSonar, said: “This started as an idea for LMC members to drive in their own cars to the Reinsurance Rendezvous in Monte Carlo, and then someone suggested making it a charity event. One of our team had just driven from Portsmouth to Malaga in a 2CV, and suddenly the challenge became irresistible.”

Leon Douch, client and business director of Amundi’s insurance business line, added: “We are enormously proud that Amundi is to be involved with this event. Amundi’s involvement with the London Insurance Market dates back over 25 years and, as French‐owned institution, taking the most iconic French cars on French roads in support of charities close to our hearts was an invitation we could not turn down. We are very grateful to the LMC and Martin for inviting us along on this truly worthwhile adventure.”
