ANV appoints head for new non-marine line
ANV Holdings has appointed a head underwriter to lead its new excess non-marine liability line.
Paul Bland will lead ANV Syndicate 1861 and will focus on underwriting non-marine general liability business on an excess basis, reporting to ANV Syndicate 1861 active underwriter Chris Jarvis.
Bland joins ANV from his role as vice president, excess liability at Markel Corporation. Previously, he was class underwriter at the Catlin Syndicate at Lloyd’s for the US general liability portfolio and has worked for Lexington Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual and Royal & Sun Alliance.
“Being a dedicated market in London, especially for US business, writing on Lloyd’s paper backed by the unique chain of security allows ANV to be an insurance partner of choice for both policyholders and brokers,” said Bland. “We are looking to focus on excess liability for leading global companies specifically in the chemical, transportation, construction and other heavy industries with high capital investment and comparably high coverage requirements.”
“Our continued ability to attract underwriters like Paul, with proven talent and established relationships, continues to underpin the achievements at ANV Syndicate 1861. In addition, the ability to provide this coverage on Lloyd’s paper, as one of only five Lloyd’s markets in this space, is particularly appealing to the larger Fortune 1000 clients,” said Jarvis.
R. Matthew Fairfield, founder and chief executive officer of ANV added: “ANV is an organisation committed to a global perspective and superior claims and service. These global general liability lines offer ANV the perfect opportunity to both demonstrate and continue to refine these capabilities within our team for some of the most demanding exposures in the market today.”
