Aon Benfield makes senior US appointments

Aon Benfield, the reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor of Aon, has made two appointments within the facultative unit of the firm’s US business.

Jackie Bolig will assume the role of senior managing director. She has more than 20 years’ experience as an insurance and risk management professional, having joined Aon in 1992.

Following several varied roles within the firm, in 2008 Bolig became leader of Aon’s Greater New York property practice until she joined Aon GRIP Solutions in 2012, taking the role of managing director.

Michael Hughes will assume the role of managing director. Hughes joined broker Alexander Howden in 1975, which was bought by Aon in 1997. In 2003 he became chief executive officer of Aon Benfield Latin America, and in 2005 he acquired additional responsibilities by way of an operations role in the firm’s global facultative unit.

Bolig and Hughes will report to Kelly Smith, president of Aon Benfield’s US business.

Smith said: “The appointment of Jackie and Michael signals our intention to further strengthen our facultative offering globally. With their wide-ranging experience, both of the Aon group and of the insurance and reinsurance industries, they will play a key role in uniting our capabilities to ensure that each and every client has access to the full range of Aon’s market-leading tools, solutions and expertise.”
