ArgoGlobal expands with Willis China hire

ArgoGlobal, the Lloyd’s insurer and member of Argo Group, has appointed Yan Jun as marine underwriting manager of ArgoGlobal’s underwriting division, Lloyd’s China.

Jun takes up his new role with immediate effect and will report to James Miao, director of underwriting.

He joins the firm from Willis China, where he served most recently as head of trade and logistics. Prior to this, he spent nearly a decade at Ping An Property and Casualty Insurance Company of China, initially as a marine cargo and specialty underwriter, before being appointed as marine hull and specialty underwriting manager in 2006.

“We have identified significant scope to expand our marine business in China by furnishing the growing demand for specialist insurance solutions,” said Miao.

“Yan has extensive experience and expertise in the Chinese marine sector which, combined with his understanding of client requirements and network of contacts, makes him the ideal candidate to spearhead our growth in this sector.”

Jun added: “ArgoGlobal is fast building a reputation in China for innovation and as a provider of specialist, bespoke insurance solutions. I am delighted to be joining its growing business as part of Lloyd’s China and look forward to developing its marine offering.”
