Arthur J. Gallagher’s CUO steps down

Sian Fisher, the chief underwriting officer of Arthur J. Gallagher, is leaving the business to seek a fresh challenge, the broker has announced.

Fisher joined Gallagher in 2008 as managing director of OIM Underwriting, when Oxygen Insurance Managers was acquired — the business she jointly founded in 2004.

Since then she has helped build Arthur J. Gallagher’s specialist underwriting business in the UK, and has most recently formed a long-term underwriting and governance framework for the firm’s two arms covering delegated authority underwriting (MGU) and transactional underwriting (MGA).

David Ross, Arthur J. Gallagher International chief executive officer, said: “Sian’s contribution to our successful growth as a fully diversified, intermediary insurance business has been huge.

“We are now one of the largest MGUs and MGAs in the UK and Sian’s technical excellence, strong leadership and unwavering focus on the delivery of returns for insurer partners have enabled us to build a robust underwriting business which is now primed for further expansion, alongside the great growth potential we are already fostering in our personal lines, private clients and affinity businesses. We’d like to thank Sian and wish her well in all future endeavours.”

Fisher will remain with the business until mid-October and will work with incoming executive chairman of underwriting & distribution Adrian Brown to ensure a smooth handover.
