Ascot founder re-joins XL

David Edward, a founding partner of Ascot Underwriting, has returned to XL Group on a consultancy basis as underwriting development advisor to the global specialty unit.

Edward was originally employed at Brockbank Syndicate Management, which became part of the XL Group in 1998. Between 1992 and 2000 he held a number of senior roles on XL London Market’s management team.

In 2000 he left XL Group to become a founding partner and main board director of Ascot Underwriting. On leaving Ascot in July 2008, Edward pursued other interests including investing in and advising start-up companies as well as property development

In his new role Edward will support the team in setting strategy, assessing underwriting performance and maximising development opportunities.
