Ascot founder Reith joins AmWINS board

Wholesale insurer AmWINS has appointed Martin Reith, the founder of Ascot Underwriting, to its board of directors.

Reith, who has more than 25 years of experience in the industry across underwriting, management and leadership roles, joins the board as an independent director.

He began his career in 1984 at Lloyd’s of London, starting at The Brockbank Group and then working with Mid Ocean and XL Capital. In 2001, with the backing of AIG, he founded Ascot Underwriting and served as chief executive officer until the end of 2008, at which point he became non-executive until 2011.

Reith has remained closely connected to the insurance and reinsurance markets since he left Ascot and has been associated with much of the M&A activity around Lloyd’s in recent years.
