Asta promotes execs to CRO and CIO

Asta, a third party managing agent (MGA) at Lloyd’s, has promoted Clare Barley to chief risk officer (CRO) and Matthew Lane to chief information officer (CIO).

Barley will report to Asta chief executive officer Julian Tighe, and Lane will report to chief operating officer Lorraine Harfitt.

Barley is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and prior to joining Asta was an actuarial consultant at Lane Clarke and Peacock, where she provided actuarial advice on a range of general insurance issues, having previously qualified with Mercer. A physicist by training, Lane’s career has encompassed senior systems roles at Xchanging, Ace and Tokio Marine Group. Prior to joining Asta he worked on the Solvency II programme at Lloyd’s.

Tighe said: “The quality of Asta’s team is demonstrated by our ability to fill even these senior roles internally. Clare and Matt are already highly valued by our clients and staff alike and I am confident that under their management, our market leading risk and IT functions will continue to innovate and deliver for our syndicate and MGA clients.”
