AXIS hires investment chief from PartnerRe

Bermuda based re/insurer AXIS Capital has appointed David Phillips, formerly head of investments for PartnerRe, as executive vice president and chief investment officer.

Phillips will report to Albert Benchimol, president and chief executive officer of AXIS.

Phillips has more than 18 years of experience in investments. Prior to his role at PartnerRe, he was the director of research and a portfolio manager at Oppenheimer Capital, an institutional money manager based in New York.

Benchimol said: “I am excited to announce the addition of David to our leadership team. I'm confident that his broad experience, expertise and proven track record in insurance company investment management will prove a valuable asset to the ongoing development of our portfolio. I was fortunate to work with David in the past and look forward to the great contributions I know he will make to our work at AXIS.”
