AXIS opens Miami office to expand in LatAm; hires from Marsh
AXIS Capital has opened a new office in Miami, with Eduardo Hussey as chief underwriting officer (CUO), to expand its presence in the Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) market.
The company has formed Miami-based AXIS Specialty Underwriters to deliver a full range of facultative and treaty reinsurance solutions in the LAC region, with a focus on energy and property.
AXIS Miami will be headed by Hussey, who brings 20 years of Latin American re/insurance industry experience to the company. He joins AXIS from Marsh, where he held a number of regional senior-level roles.

AXIS Miami will serve as LAC regional coverholder for AXIS Syndicate 1686. AXIS Re Brazil’s Sao Paulo representative office will continue to service treaty reinsurance clients throughout the LAC region, under the direction of AXIS Re Zurich.
