Barbican appoints Capita exec as MD of BMAL

Barbican Insurance Group has appointed Iain Bremner as managing director of Barbican Managing Agency (BMAL).

Bremner will report to David Reeves, group chief executive officer (CEO) of Barbican Insurance Group.

BMAL manages Barbican Syndicate 1955 and Special Purpose Syndicate 6118, which underwrites insurance and reinsurance business at Lloyd’s. BMAL also manages Arcus Syndicate 1856 which underwrites a property and specialty lines portfolio.

Bremner joins Barbican from Capita Managing Agency, where he was CEO and led the projects to establish Probitas Syndicate 1492 and Allied World Syndicate 2232. During his career, he has held a number of senior executive roles in the Lloyd’s managing agency arena, including managing director of Max at Lloyd’s (formerly Imagine Syndicates and Abacus Syndicates). Bremner is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants.

Reeves said: "We are delighted to announce that Iain will be joining the Barbican team to head up Barbican’s managing agency.

“He brings an outstanding level of experience from the Lloyd’s sector and will play a central role in helping us build on the success that BMAL has achieved to date.”
