Barbican launches enterprise data warehouse

Barbican Insurance has launched a new enterprise data warehouse, which provides a group-wide, scalable information solution designed to fully support the firm’s growth plans.

Barbican said the warehouse enables the accurate, timely and consistent storage, analysis and delivery of information across Barbican.

Working in partnership with Atticus Associates, Barbican significantly reduced the standard delivery period for a project of this scale to only nine months.

Stewart Williams, head of IT at Barbican, said: “There are few industries which can be said to be as data-driven as the insurance industry. Quality of data, accuracy of data and access to data are critical to the decision-making process of any insurer or reinsurer. With this new enterprise data warehouse system, high-quality, comprehensive data available in seconds is now at the core of every decision we make, whether that is on the underwriting floor or in the boardroom.”

Nick Mair, managing director at Atticus Associates, added: "We are delighted to have worked with Barbican on launching this ground breaking EDW product, which delivers high value business benefits in a highly cost effective, swift and secure manner. As the London market modernises its processes and technology, firms like Barbican are on the leading edge in embracing proven and innovative solutions.”
