Berkshire Hathaway Specialty expands inland marine capability

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has introduced a commercial output policy (COP) that combines its property insurance policy with its inland marine coverage.

The COP, which uses American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) wording, responds to property risks in conjunction with motor truck cargo, warehouse legal liability, contractor’s equipment, installation and builder’s risk exposures.

The policy is targeted at logistics, transportation and trucking contractors, as well as equipment dealers, and light to moderate processing risks.

Steve Silverman, vice president of inland marine at BHSI, said: “We are pleased to bring to market a single solution for inland marine and property exposures, backed by BHSI’s financial strength and responsive service.

“With our new admitted property capabilities, we have made it easier for our Inland Marine customers to address their property exposures in a single policy.”

John Evans, head of US marine at BHSI, added: “Customers can now combine BHSI’s full line of inland marine coverages with our property protection and expertise.
“This latest addition to our product line strengthens our position in the inland marine marketplace, bringing added value to our expanding customer base.”
