Besso restructures board; appoints joint CEOs
Lloyd’s broker Besso has restructured its board and appointed Rob Dowman and Russ Nichols as joint chief executives.
Dowman currently serves as managing director of global casualty and Russ Nichols serves as managing director of global property.
The restructure will also see Howard Green and Roddy Caxton-Spencer become chairman and deputy chairman respectively.
Green was one of the founding members of the Besso group and is currently chairman of the North American property division. Caxton-Spencer is currently managing director of the international division.
In addition, Colin Bird will step down as chairman of Besso but will remain chairman and chief executive of Besso Group.
Bird said: “The management team at Besso has delivered excellent results and we have seen strong growth in recent years. This restructure recognises those that have played an important role in our company and the talent that has been nurtured within it. We have had a consistent management team here for 30 years and now it is time for the next generation to take the business forward.”
Dowman added: “We are excited about helping the company fulfil its growth and ambitions for the future. Russ and I will be sharing the responsibilities as chief executive, and will continue to manage respective divisions and client base. It is of huge benefit for both of us to be able to call upon the vast experience of Colin and Howard as we step into our new roles.”
Nichols said: “This is an exciting time for Besso as it expands into new territories and it is great to be a part of it. Rob and I will be working closely to take the business forward and ensure its continued success.”
