BHSI enters Australasian marine market

Property and casualty insurer, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company, has entered the marine market in Australia and New Zealand.

Dimitry Zilberud has been appointed as head of marine to facilitate the new business, while Mark Dixon will assume the role of marine manager. Both will be based at BHSI’s Sydney office.

Zilberud joins from HDI-Gerling, where he served as marine underwriting manager, Australasia at HDI-Gerling.

Dixon was most recently Northern region marine underwriting manager and senior marine underwriter, at HDI-Gerling. He has also held various marine and distribution positions for both brokers and insurers.

Th­rough its local offices in Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne, BHSI now offers marine cargo (ocean and inland), cargo stock ­roughput (STP), carrier goods in transit, carrier’s liability and marine project cargo coverages.

BHSI also recently launched property, casualty, executive and professional and healthcare lines in Australia, as well as property, casualty and financial lines in New Zealand.
