BIBA reappoints chairman Lord Hunt for second term

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) has extended the tenure of its chairman Lord David Hunt of Wirral for another three-year term.

Lord Hunt first took the position in January 2014 after becoming BIBA’s first independent non-executive director.

Steve White, chief executive of BIBA said: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure David’s services for a further three years.

“His breadth of knowledge and experience have been invaluable to BIBA since 2014 and will be vital as the country and sector goes through a period of enormous change.”

Lord Hunt added: “Brokers arrange over half of all general insurance business, over a third of personal lines and almost 80 per cent of commercial lines insurance, so I am genuinely honoured and delighted to take up the opportunity to continue on this journey alongside the excellent BIBA team.

“I spoke earlier this year about the speed of activity at BIBA constantly increasing. Recent events - notably but not exclusively, the vote for EU Exit on 23 June - have served only to increase the challenges we face. I have no doubt we shall rise to those challenges and, working together, make further progress in protecting and advancing the interests of insurance brokers and the customers they serve so well.”

Lord Hunt is also the co-chair of All Party Parliamentary Group on Insurance and Financial Services, and a former president of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
