Charles Taylor Adjusting makes senior energy appointments

Charles Taylor Adjusting (CTA), an international loss adjusting business, has appointed John Donald as managing director (MD) of its energy loss adjusting business for London, Europe and Singapore following the retirement of Trevor De La Salle.

Chris Brown and Mike McMahon have been appointed as deputy MDs for energy UK.

The promotions position CTA for growth in the international energy adjusting market.

Donald joined CTA in 2008 as a director. He has worked as an energy loss adjuster for over 30 years, initially in the Middle East before transferring to London in 1990.

He has wide international experience in the onshore and offshore energy markets and has managed the adjustment of many complex energy claims throughout the world. He also has a wealth of experience in the adjustment of construction claims, hurricane-related losses, property damage, loss of production income (LOPI) and business interruption (BI). In his early career he worked at British Steel and on engineering projects in UK-based Petrochemical refineries.

Brown joined CTA in 2008 and has worked on a large number of energy claims involving onshore and offshore facilities across the oil and gas and renewables sectors. He previously worked for Lloyd’s Register, both as a surveyor and on the development of technical standards and marine rules for engineering systems. He has also worked for construction and marine engineering practices.

McMahon joined CTA in 2011. He focuses his technical and commercial skills on adjusting energy losses with a particular expertise in construction projects. McMahon previously worked for a large engineering consultancy working as a project manager delivering complex construction and manufacturing projects. He started his career as an engineer surveyor for a major classification society.

Damian Ely, chief executive officer, CTA, said: “I am very pleased to welcome John Donald as the new managing director of our energy adjusting business for London, Europe and Singapore. He has an outstanding track record as a loss adjuster and has been heavily involved in leading the development of our energy business in London.

“Mike and Chris’s appointments demonstrate the success of our commitment to bringing expert engineers from industry into our loss adjusting business and to invest in their development as adjusters. Our new energy leadership team offers the ideal combination of experience and technical knowledge and is well placed to lead the business into its next stage of growth.

He added: “I would like to thank Trevor De La Salle for his service and commitment to Charles Taylor Adjusting over the last twelve years. His leadership has been instrumental in building, what I believe to be, one of the leading and most respected energy adjusting teams in the London and international insurance markets.”
