Drinker Biddle bolsters insurance regulatory team with new partner

US law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath has strengthened its insurance regulatory and transactional capabilities with the addition of Dan Brown as partner.

Brown will become a member of the firm’s insurance regulatory and transactional team, based in San Francisco. He most recently served as a partner at Dentons where he was a member of the insurance regulatory practice.

Andrew Kassner, chairman and CEO of Drinker Biddle, said: "Adding a lawyer of Dan’s caliber significantly advances the goal to establish our nationally recognised insurance regulatory and transactional team in California, the country’s largest insurance market.

"Dan brings considerable regulatory and transactional experience to our national roster of insurance clients, and his relationships within the industry create a foundation for additional growth in our practice in California and nationally."

Brown represents insurance companies, agents and brokers, and other participants in the admitted and surplus lines insurance markets in the US. He also advises participants in the London market on US insurance laws.

Neil Haimm, chair of Drinker Biddle’s corporate practice group, commented: "Dan’s deep familiarity with the California regulatory environment broadens our insurance capabilities beyond existing strengths in markets including Chicago, New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia. He is a highly regarded member of the insurance legal community, both in California and nationally, who has previously worked closely with other members of our insurance team, including Mike Byrne, Tom Dawson and John Mulhern."
