Endurance hires Liberty International exec

Bermuda-based property and casualty re/insurer Endurance has appointed James Engel as chief claims officer.

He will be based in Endurance's New York City office, reporting to Brian Goshen, Endurance's chief administrative officer.

Engel joins Endurance from Liberty International Underwriters where he served as chief claims officer for the Americas for the past five years and, prior to that, in a similar role for Zurich North America for six years.

Goshen said: "We are extremely pleased to welcome a claims leader of Jim's caliber and experience to Endurance. He has proven his leadership and technical capabilities over more than 40 years as he has evolved and developed the claims operations of several P&C carriers.

“We are confident that he will apply similar best practices here at Endurance as we implement a new claims technology solution, improve our analytics and ensure that our claims function meets the highest standards of service and operational excellence."
