Endurance hires reinsurance chief plus more people moves

Bermuda-based Endurance Specialty Holdings has announced that Jerome Faure will join the company on March 11 as CEO of global reinsurance. He will be responsible for Endurance’s North America, Bermuda and international reinsurance operations. Most recently, Faure was a partner in ILS Capital Management in Bermuda focused on insurance linked securities, industry loss warranties and collateralized reinsurance. Prior to that, he served as director and chief underwriting officer for Tokio Millennium Re. He started his career at Scor.

AXIS Capital Holdings has elected Alice Young to its board of directors. Since 1994, Young has served as a partner at international law firm Kaye Scholer and as chairperson of the firm's Asia Pacific practice. In 2013, she became special counsel of Kaye Scholer. “The breadth and scope of her international experience, particularly in the growth areas of the world, will be a great addition to our deliberations. We look forward to her contributions as an independent director,” said Michael Butt, chairman of AXIS Capital.

Tokio Marine Europe has appointed two new underwriters into its UK team. Stuart Wolstenholme joins from QBE as a senior underwriter covering property and liability business while Clark Gardiner joins the company’s newly formed construction team as an underwriter based in Manchester. Wolstenholme has extensive knowledge in many niche areas such as media while Gardiner has spent the last five years underwriting construction risks at RSA.

DUAL, the underwriting arm of Hyperion Insurance Group, has appointed Alan Grant as non-executive chairman of the DUAL International board of directors and non-executive director of DUAL’s UK operating companies. After beginning his career in the Lloyd’s Market, Grant was an underwriting director for CNA Reinsurance and eventually managed his own Lloyd’s syndicate before joining Converium (now SCOR Group).

Argo International, the Lloyd’s insurer and member of Argo Group, has appointed Bruno Ritchie as underwriting director of Argo International. Ritchie, who will relocate to London, is currently Argo’s group head of aerospace based in Paris. He takes over the responsibilities of underwriting director from Peter Matson who, after achieving goals set out for him two years ago, will focus on developing new business opportunities for Syndicate 1200 and Argo Group.

Lancashire Holdings has appointed Samantha Hoe-Richardson as a non-executive director. Hoe-Richardson is head of sustainable development & energy for Anglo American, one of the world’s leading mining and natural resources companies. “Samantha has a perspective which will be a great addition to the board’s work. I have high hopes for the contribution she will be able to make, and welcome her to the board,” said Martin Thomas, Lancashire´s Chairman.

Guy Carpenter & Company has appointed Georg Fuelles as head of European casualty strategy. Based in Guy Carpenter’s Zurich office, Fuelles will be involved in the management and support of the firm’s Global Partners’ Casualty accounts, with a particular focus on developing casualty business in the German speaking regions and in Central and Eastern Europe. He joins from Partner Re where he held various senior underwriting positions in its casualty specialty unit.
