Bermuda-based mortgage insurance provider Essent Group has announced that Adolfo Marzol has resigned from its board of directors.

Marzol’s resignation follows his appointment as senior advisor to Dr. Ben Carson, United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

"On behalf of the Board, I want to wish Adolfo well in his new role," said chairman and CEO Mark Casale. "Adolfo has been a valued member of Essent and brings with him many years of experience and a deep understanding of US housing finance."

Marzol said: "I am looking forward to my new role in support of Secretary Carson and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. I am thankful for the opportunity to have been associated with Essent as well as to now serve our nation in this role."
