Everest hires credit and political risk underwriter from Mitsubishi

Everest Re Group has hired Joe Martin to join its credit and political risk team in New York, reporting to Jim Thomas, head of credit and political risk at Everest Insurance.

Martin joins Everest Insurance from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), where he was a director responsible for originating and structuring export credit and multilateral agency backed cross-border business, including trade and project finance transactions worldwide.

Prior to his six years with MUFG, Martin worked as a senior project officer in the project finance division of the Export-Import Bank of the United States; a senior credit and political risk underwriter at Zurich; and an international bank examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

Thomas commented: "With his broad expertise in trade and project finance, gained through 20 years of experience in banking and insurance in both the public and private sectors, Joe is well positioned to meet the needs of our broker and customer partners.

"We're excited to have him join the Credit and Political Risk team and his skill set will further enhance our project finance and structured credit underwriting capabilities."
