Extra-tropical cyclone Egon losses reach €234m

The insured property losses caused by extra-tropical cyclone Egon have reached €234 million in a revised estimate by PERILS, the Zurich-based catastrophe insurance data provider.

PERILS had earlier estimated it to be around €212 million in February 2017. The windstorm Egon affected France and Germany on 12 and 13 January 2017. The cold front associated with Egon also resulted in heavy rain and snowfall.

The company is expected to disclose its third estimate in July 2017.

The third and any following loss estimates will be provided in full resolution, by CRESTA zone and by the property sub-lines residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural, PERILS said in a statement.
