Germany is a key market for us where we are implementing a number of strategic initiatives to further improve our competitive position and offer innovative, best-in-class services and products to our customers.

“We are very grateful to Dietmar for his many achievements over the past years as CEO of the German holding company. I personally also want to thank him for his contribution to the work of the group management committee of Generali since its inception. He has been an outstanding leader and his ongoing support to the group in his new role will be invaluable.”

Meister added: “It’s been an honour to be part of this formidable group for the past thirty years. Today we are a business which is a market leader and well positioned to capitalise on the opportunities ahead. I know Giovanni very well and I am convinced that we will have a new leader with an extensive understanding and expertise in the German insurance market and the vision to enable us to successfully manage the challenges facing our industry. Finally, on behalf of all our colleagues, let me also thank Mr. Kaske for his long and valuable service to Generali.”
