Hamilton Insurance Group, the holding company of Bermuda-based property casualty reinsurer Hamilton Re, has appointed William Freda, formerly of Deloitte, to its board of directors.
Freda, former senior partner and vice chairman of Deloitte, will chair the board’s audit committee.
Freda concluded his career at Deloitte earlier this year, having worked for the firm for 40 years since his graduation from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
His senior positions at Deloitte included chairman of the risk committee and the audit committee of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s board of directors, managing partner of Deloitte’s US client initiatives, and regional managing partner of the Northeast, Deloitte’s largest US region.
Brian Duperreault, Hamilton Insurance Group chief executive officer, said: “It’s a real pleasure to welcome Bill to our board. His knowledge of and experience with the global insurance industry is almost without parallel, and represents an excellent complement to the talent and expertise of our other board members.
“I look forward to having the benefit of Bill’s guidance and insight as we continue to develop Hamilton Insurance Group as a premier property casualty insurer and reinsurer.”
