IAG strengthens board

General insurer Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has strengthened its board with the appointment Jonathan Nicholson as an independent non-executive director.

Nicholson currently serves as the non-executive chairman of the Westpac Foundation and a director of Cape York Partnerships and QuintessenceLabs. He was previously chief strategy officer of Westpac Banking Corporation, before retiring in 2014.

IAG chairman, Brian Schwartz said that Nicholson’s appointment will bring more experience to the board, as IAG look to explore new opportunities and drive innovation.

Schwartz said: “We are delighted to welcome Jon to the Board. With significant strategic financial and analytical expertise gained working across industry, consulting and government, Jon brings a unique combination of perspectives and strongly-honed judgment on complex strategic opportunities.”
