IUAI president steps down; successor is named

The International Union of Aerospace Insurers (IUAI) has appointed Chris Kunstadter as union president, taking over from Jeff Cassidy.

The appointment was announced at the IUAI’s 2016 annual general meeting, a three-day programme on the major issues and developments facing the aerospace insurance and reinsurance industries.

Kunstadter is a senior vice president at XL Catlin, and also global underwriting manager for space.

He has previously served as executive vice president of US Aviation underwriters.

At the annual general meeting, the IUAI’s sector-specific study groups put together individual sessions covering such diverse topics as cyber threats to latest generation air traffic control, flight management and global navigation satellite systems, helicopter safety in the light of the downturn in the oil and gas industry, and an overview of the current airline war insurance market.

Kunstadter commented: “I look forward to working with the IUAI membership to expand the role of the union, including working with industry, governments, and others to enhance safety, security, and technology development in the aviation and space industries. I’m pleased that Jeff and all of the previous presidents of the IUAI have left the union in excellent shape to accomplish this growth.”
