Kiln boosts enterprise risk team

Specialist re/insurer Kiln has appointed Ian Lewis as enterprise risk underwriter specialising in intellectual property.

Lewis will underwrite a wide range of intellectual property risks focusing on defence costs and liability as well as first-party economic losses.

He joins from Samian Underwriting, a specialist managing general agency he co-founded, where he has been for the past eight years. Before that he was a director at Miller Insurance.

Paul Culham, active underwriter of the marine and enterprise risk division at Kiln, said: "Clients are becoming increasingly aware of the value and risk associated with their core intangible assets, such as brand, which has generated significant growth in demand for these types of products.

“The experience Ian brings, combined with the entrepreneurial focus of our enterprise risk team, will help to meet this demand, whilst strengthening and enhancing our progressive offering to clients who are concerned about emerging and intangible risks.”

Lewis added: “Kiln is a recognised leader in the development of innovative coverages and I am thrilled to be joining the team at a pivotal time ahead of its rebrand as Tokio Marine Kiln. I look forward to working with the team to expand our offering through its global distribution network.”
