Lockton hires its first chief analytics officer

US broker Lockton has named Justin VanOpdorp as its first chief analytics officer.

VanOpdorp has led the creation and development of Lockton's property and casualty insurance analytics team since joining the firm in 2006. As chief analytics officer, he will have global responsibility for business intelligence and analytics that help Lockton clients improve their businesses.

VanOpdorp has more than 20 years of actuarial and analytical experience. He was previously an actuary and leader with GE Insurance Solutions, Fireman’s Fund, and Milliman.

Mark Moitoso has been named senior vice president and analytics practice leader. He will lead Lockton’s property and casualty analytics team in leveraging industry-leading analytics and provide actionable advice to clients on their property-casualty insurance programmes and claims.

Moitoso joins Lockton from Liberty Mutual, where he was executive vice president and general manager of national accounts.

“These appointments are part of our ongoing investment in analytics that help our clients improve their operations, make informed business decisions, and reduce costs,” said Glenn Spencer, chief operating officer of Lockton.

“Justin is a proven leader who has built a strong analytics team that delivers results for clients. This expanded role will help our clients and our business around the world.”

Spencer added: “We are excited that Mark Moitoso is joining our business. He is a respected insurance leader who will expand our analytics capabilities and deliver practical solutions to clients.”
