Markel appoints deputy claims manager

Specialist insurer, Markel International, has appointed Myles Sunley as deputy claims manager for marine, where he will report to claims manager Kevin Phillips.

Sunley joins Markel International after four years at Marketform Managing Agency, where he was head of marine claims, following earlier positions at QBE, Hiscox and Royal & Sun Alliance.

“Myles is a recognised leader in this field and we look forward to him strengthening our marine claims team,” said Hannah Purves, claims director at Markel. “His management skills, commercial focus and technical ability will take our marine and energy claims team to the next level and improve the service we can provide to brokers and insureds.

“Claims are the shop window for insurers and Markel is focused on continuing to develop our team so that it offers the skills and personalities that can engage effectively to look after our clients’ needs.”
