Markel hires underwriter for ports and terminals

Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Charles Bragg as a senior underwriter for ports and terminals. He joins from QBE.

Bragg has extensive experience gained over 40 years in the Lloyd’s, London and regional UK marine insurance markets underwriting ports and terminals, marine liability, cargo and hull classes. He was previously ports and terminals portfolio manager at QBE’s O’Farrell Syndicate 1036 at Lloyd’s.

Bragg will work with senior liability underwriter Chris Fenn to expand Markel’s existing product offering by providing liability, property, business interruption, handling equipment, craft and terrorism cover for ports and terminals on a worldwide basis.

Paul Jenks, divisional managing director of Marine and Energy, said: “Charlie has fantastic experience and contacts and we’re delighted to add him to our team. The expansion of our ports and terminals book will complement and strengthen our existing Marine portfolio and the products Markel offer.”
