Markel hires yacht underwriter from Brit

Specialist insurer Markel International has appointed Mike Wimbridge as senior yacht underwriter for its marine, energy and property division.

Wimbridge joins the existing hull and war team led by Jason Page, and has responsibility for developing the current yacht portfolio. He will be supported by underwriter Roz Insley.

Wimbridge has almost 30 years of underwriting and broking experience, having most recently served as yacht underwriter for Brit Global Specialty.

Paul Jenks, managing director of the division, commented: “Mike has been in the yacht market for over 20 years and his contacts and experience will support the expansion and development of our existing yacht business and establish us as a leader in the market.
