Markel lures United Overseas Bank exec
Specialist insurer Markel International has appointed Bennett Wong as assistant trade credit underwriter in its Singapore office.
He will report to Abhishek Chhajer, senior underwriter and head of trade credit in Asia and will work closely with Linda Naili, who joined the business last year from GE Capital, to build relationships with clients and brokers around the region.
Wong joins from United Overseas Bank where, since 2013, he has served as vice president of the structured trade and commodity finance.
Chhajer said: “We are pleased to welcome Bennett to our Singapore office. With his strong background in political risk analysis, structured trade and commodity finance, together with his established analytical skills, he will be a valuable addition to our team as we develop our trade credit and contract frustration offerings.”
Ewa Rose, managing director of Markel International’s trade credit division, added: “We would like to extend our warmest welcome to Bennett, whose broad experience will bring great value to the trade credit team in Singapore and support our existing product lines and our business growth plans.”
