Marketform appoints leader of M&A team

Specialist Lloyd's underwriter Marketform has appointed Robert Brown as global practice leader of its mergers and acquisitions (M&A) insurance operations. Brown joins to lead the team of M&A specialist underwriters and lawyers who are already in place. The team underwrites a £50 million line available on a Lloyd’s market consortium basis.  The M&A unit has the capability to underwrite large and complex transactions, providing bespoke warranty and indemnity and M&A tax insurance solutions, according to Marketform.  Brown has more than 20 years underwriting experience, most of which have been spent managing international M&A insurance practices with Chubb and Ironshore. The appointment complements last week’s announcement by Marketform’s parent, Great American Insurance Group, regarding the launch of a new M&A liability division, based in New York. The New York office will focus on offering coverage for US-based corporate transactions, acquisitions or disposals.  “We are very pleased to have such talented, experienced and knowledgeable lead underwriters on board,” said Martin Reith, chief executive officer, Marketform. “Robert is one of the most highly regarded M&A underwriters operating in the market and we are delighted to have him lead the global M&A team.” Brown added: “We are excited by the formation of our worldwide M&A insurance practice group, which seamlessly spans the Great American and Marketform companies.  “Our team consists of very experienced underwriters and corporate M&A and tax lawyers, who deliver an excellent service due to their combined M&A experience of more than 90 years across many sectors and jurisdictions.”
