Nexus hires Beazley exec for senior underwriter role
Specialist trade insurance underwriter Nexus Credit Indemnity & Financial Services (CIFS), part of independent specialty managing general agent Nexus Underwriting, has appointed Ed Cornish as senior underwriter on its single situation trade credit team.
Cornish joins the firm from Beazley, where he was responsible for writing single situation credit, contract frustration and political risk business.
He began his career at Catlin Underwriting Agency in 2003, where he became underwriting technical assistant for political and structured trade credit at Chubb Insurance Company of Europe until 2010, when he joined FINPRO, Marsh, as a political risk and structured credit broker for two years.
Cornish then became a political risk and structured credit underwriter at ANV managing agency before joining Beazley in 2014.
James Steele-Perkins, divisional head, Nexus CIFS, said: “Ed brings considerable expertise with him having built up a strong reputation as a first class broker and underwriter within the London specialist insurance market,”
Richard Marriage, managing director of Nexus, added: “We are very excited about Ed’s arrival and his addition to the single situation team will enable us to diversify our book further into areas we previously haven’t explored. I am confident that Ed will prove to be a valuable addition and great fit with Nexus CIFS and the Nexus Group as a whole.”
