Novae appoints property head from Mitsui Sumitomo

Novae Group, the specialist listed Lloyd’s insurer has appointed Anne Plumb, formerly of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, as unit head of international open market property.

She will report to Ian Burford, joint active underwriter and begins the role in September 2014.

Plumb joins Novae with over 25 years’ industry experience. Her most recent role was as class underwriter for international and corporate property at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, where she was responsible for growing the international property book of business.

Prior to this she was the deputy head of global property at Travelers at Lloyds. Plumb also spent 11 years with Swiss Re in Singapore and Australia before returning to London in 2002 to take up the position of head of onshore energy.

Plumb said: “Novae’s property division is well respected within the market and there is a fantastic opportunity to grow the international unit. I am looking forward to joining the team and working with them to develop a market leading international open market property unit.”

Burford said: “Hiring someone of Anne’s calibre demonstrates our commitment to enhancing our property offering. She has an excellent track record and we are delighted that she has agreed to join the team at Novae.”
