Novae boosts marine team

Lloyd’s insurer Novae Group has appointed Selina Lu as a marine liability class underwriter, responsible for increasing Novae’s presence across the Asian insurance markets.

She will report to Darren Carr, unit head.

Lu joins Novae with extensive P&I experience in both the Chinese and London markets. She joins from the West of England P&I Insurance Services where she was based in its Hong Kong office.

Prior to this she spent eight years as deputy manager of the P&I division at the Peoples’ Insurance Company of China.

Lu said: “Novae has a great opportunity to increase its brand exposure throughout Asia and I am looking forward to combining my experience and knowledge to raise the marine unit’s presence throughout the key markets.”

Robert Forster, head of marine, aviation and political risk division at Novae, added: “Our marine unit has grown steadily over the past couple of years and is well known in the London market. We want to utilise the breath of experience the unit has to expand into key markets, and Selina’s skill set and knowledge of the Chinese marine market will be instrumental in enabling us to raise our profile across the Asian insurance markets. She is a strong addition to the unit and we are delighted to have her on board.”
