Novae poaches RSA exec for renewable energy role

Specialist Lloyd’s insurer Novae has appointed Valeria Del Villano as class underwriter for renewable energy.

Del Villano is based in London and reports to James Green, unit head of renewable energy. She joins the firm from RSA’s engineering and renewable energy team. Prior to this she was a renewable energy underwriter at GCube, specialising in insurance covers for a number of technologies including solar photovoltaic and concentrated solar power, onshore wind, hydro and biofuels energy risks. She has also held roles with HSB Engineering Insurance and AM Trust Europe.

Del Villano said: “There is a lot of investment and interest in the renewable energy space, which has led to an increased demand for this specialist insurance. I look forward to working with James to capitalise on the growth opportunities and help increase Novae’s presence in this class.”

John Owen, divisional head of marine, aviation and political risk at Novae, said: “Valeria has a strong reputation in the renewable energy market and it is testament to the valuable offering that James is building that we have attracted her to Novae.

“We see a lot of potential within the renewable energy space and Valeria’s appointment is a key part of our strategy to develop capabilities in such specialty classes of business.”
