Pioneer launches property facultative division

Pioneer Underwriters has launched its new international property facultative division, which will be led by new recruit Robert Coker as head of international property facultative.

Coker will report to Andrew Stout, director of underwriting at Pioneer Underwriters.

Based in London, the international property facultative division will underwrite on a worldwide basis focused on primary property facultative and binder risks targeting small to medium-sized business and building upon extensive trading relationships.

Coker has 25 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance sector. He joins the firm from Faraday Underwriting, where he was part of the property direct and facultative (D&F) team for eight years.  Prior to that he was at Manufacturers P&C in Barbados, having started his underwriting career with Swiss Re in Zurich.

“I am pleased to welcome Robert to Pioneer as we launch our international property facultative division, the latest step in our ongoing plan to build and scale the business,” said Darren Doherty, chief executive officer of Pioneer Underwriters.

“There are significant opportunities to grow Pioneer’s presence in this market and Robert’s experience of developing profitable long term books of business will play a key role in the development of the account.”

Coker added: “I look forward to getting started and leveraging Pioneer’s brand and the operational excellence it is known for, as we grow a market leading book of international property facultative business.”
