Pioneer launches US allied healthcare division

Pioneer Underwriters has launched a US allied healthcare professional general liability division.

The company said it saw allied healthcare as a growing industry, driven by an ageing population, technological advances and healthcare reform.

Jim Stewart has been appointed as senior vice president (SVP) of the division. He joins Pioneer’s US underwriting platform, Pioneer Special Risk (PSR) in the Chicago branch and will report to Gary Dubois, president of PSR.

Darren Doherty, chief executive officer of Pioneer Underwriters, sad: “I am very pleased to welcome Jim to Pioneer as we launch our Allied Healthcare capability where we have identified huge opportunity. Jim’s wealth of expertise in this sector, combined with his successful track record of building significant books of Allied Healthcare business, will contribute towards Pioneer’s ongoing development as a leading international underwriter.”

Dubois added: “Jim will be a great addition to our team in the US. He brings with him the established underwriting history and recognised expertise that has formed the foundation for PSR’s growing reputation”.
