Probitas 1492 appoints senior underwriter

Probitas 1492, an insurance and reinsurance syndicate at Lloyd’s, has expanded its casualty offering to include UK Liability with the appointment of Richard Beaumont as senior underwriter.

Based in London, Beaumont will report to Neila Buurman, chief underwriting officer for casualty, and will also work alongside Michelle Shaw, senior underwriter for international liability.

Beaumont was previously a partner at JLT Group, and before that served as regional manager at QBE. Here he was he was responsible for the UK south region of QBE’s property, casualty and motor underwriting teams.

Buurman said “I am delighted to be working with Richard again and for him to be leading our UK Casualty offering. Having worked with him in the past, I know what a valuable contribution he will make to our casualty team, especially with his combined underwriting and business development experience.

“I look forward to utilizing my underwriting and development skills in this exciting, forward-thinking venture.”

The appointment of Beaumont follows an expansion of Probitas 1492, which has quadrupled in size since it began trading in October 2015. The syndicate now offers property, construction, international liability, UK liability, professional indemnity, management liability and financial institutions insurance.
