QBE appoints MD from Aviva

Insurer QBE has appointed David Hall, formerly a managing director at Aviva, as managing director of its retail division.

QBE expects him to be in post by October 2014. Hall will lead the retail division which comprises UK & Ireland, Europe and financial & specialty markets business units. He will join the QBE European operations executive committee.

He will report to Richard Pryce, chief executive officer of QBE.

Hall has over 30 years of insurance industry experience. He joins QBE from Aviva where he has been managing director of their corporate and specialty risk operations since 2011, prior to which he was chief executive officer of Zurich’s global corporate UK operations.

Pryce said: “We are delighted to have attracted someone of David’s calibre to lead our retail division. His significant experience and proven success in the corporate insurance market will help us enhance our market presence and develop our business in response to the various needs of the markets in which we operate.”
